Greetings, Wolves!

Greetings to all alumni, friends, and supporters on this, our last Ring True of the academic year. And what a year it’s been – one of College’s most successful ever as you can read below!
The end of term is all about celebration and there is much to celebrate - from the May Bumps and Garden Parties to the annual May Ball, this is the time we gather with friends and family, welcome graduands into the alumni community, reflect on what makes Wolfson special, and look forward with positivity to the new academic year. 
As ever, if you have any ideas or suggestions, do get in touch.

"The soil has started to shift": Wolfson launches new literary anthology
On Wolfson’s Foundation Day, we celebrated the launch of a new literary anthology: WolfWords
The collection features poetry, art and photographic contributions from across the Wolfson community, including students, staff, fellows, and alumni. It is centered around the theme of ‘Growth’, in honour of our 2023 Wolfson Explores theme, and attracted a diverse range of submissions, from reflections on the power of learning for communal endurance, to commentaries on the importance of kindness.

Alumni recognised in King’s first Birthday Honours list
Four Wolfson alumni are among those recognised in the King’s first Birthday Honours list
Fouzia Younis (2011, International Relations), Serena Kennedy (2013, Applied Criminology), Gavin McKinnon (2008, Applied Criminology and Police Management), and Navleen Kaur (2000, Education with Psychology) were honoured in the list announced on 16 June 2023.

"I may have shed a tear or two"
Looking back on a special year of music at Wolfson
Director of Music, Lyn Alcántara, reflects on an important year of music in Wolfson, which marked 30 years since she first started conducting the College choir.
"This has been an important year for me personally celebrating my thirtieth anniversary conducting the College Choir and in October I will celebrate twenty-five years as Director of Music. I was thrilled to welcome back former choir members from three decades to our Gloria! concert in March with an alumni chorus joining our current choir, accompanied by Prime Brass and alumnus organist Dr Stephen Rose, to perform Rutter’s ever-popular Gloria. Wolfson's Fran Steele captains Cambridge to Varsity football victory
It was an emphatic victory, with the Cambridge team 4-0 winners. “We are thrilled to have won,” said Fran. “After waiting a month since the original postponed match, we dominated the game and were very clinical in front of goal.

"I’m even more excited for what is yet to come" - new Boat Club captain looks to the future
Having been Cambridge’s most successful college boat club during Lent Bumps, Wolfson came into Easter term with plenty of momentum, writes the new Boat Club President Scott Wilson.

Preparation for May Bumps began before term had even commenced, via a successful training camp in nearby Earith. Most importantly, morale was high and a real togetherness of the club was evident both on and off the water. Wolfson wins highest award at University sustainability awards
For the second year in a row, Wolfson College has won a Platinum Green Impact Award

Wolfson’s second consecutive Platinum award follows three previous Gold awards and an Excellence Award for the creation of the Wolfson Living Lab, which supports sustainable projects in College.

Celebrating progress and looking towards a greener future
Wolfson’s ‘Transforming Sustainability’ conference was the perfect platform to showcase our success.

The conference brought together members of Wolfson’s international community of students, staff, Fellows, and alumni, along with attendees from across the university, to celebrate the progress in sustainability that has been made by the College over the past three years. 

With four engaging sessions to attend, Building a Resilient Community, Sustainability Research at Wolfson, Making an Impact, and Delivering Institutional Change, there was plenty to get excited about.

You are warmly invited to a meet with Wolfson’s President, Professor Jane Clarke FMedSci FRS who will be visiting the West Coast of America from 8 to 13 September 2023 to connect with Wolfson Alumni and friends.
